Field Joint Coating Services

In conjunction with Matrix Composites and Engineering Ltd, Begley International offers field joint coating services to clients in Australia and South East Asia. Begley International utilizes a purpose built, mobile polyurethane (PU) injection moulding plant and site application service that is capable of applying pural component PU elastomer field joint coatings (FJC's) to pipelines for subsea applications.

Typically, PU FJC's are applied at the shore base or offshore to welded joints that have the insulation layer removed or cut back to facilitate the welding process. The jointed area needs to be insulated with a material compatible with the parent pipe metal, the subsea service conditions and the parent insulation material such as GSPU (Glass Syntactic Polyurethane), three layer PP, syntactic PP, FBE or concrete weight coating materials. The solid polyurethane (PU) field joint coating materials used by Begley & MC&E Ltd offer a proven track record in a variety of subsea applications.

Recent projects completed include site application of PU FJC's for subsea line pipes, jumpers, spool pieces, SSIV joints for clients such as ENI, Woodside and Shell.
